Fossil slate from the Chicago Museum level of Stranglehold.
This is one of the fossil slates I modeled and textured for the museum level of Stranglehold. In addition to modellign and texturing, I also created the break/damage events for all of these pieces. Up until this point in the Stranglehold's production, most of the break events in the game were the same style. You'd shoot the object and it would break into several solid chunks. But on these fossil slates, I really wanted to capture the layered rock/fossil feel and have them chip off in thin slabs. So with these slates, I split them in half along the top edge, and then broke each half into random shapes and chunks, so when you shot at it, you'd see the nice effect of layers breaking and sliding off, chipping away until you broke through the other side. This made for great destructible cover during gunfights. |
